Falling Asleep Praying

I fall asleep praying at night a lot. I mean well. I try hard. But sometimes, no matter how hard I try to stay awake I just can't. And then there are times when I can't fall asleep so I pray and pray and pray. This happens more now that I am getting older. I used to never have a problem falling asleep. I can relate a little with Peter, James, and John as they were trying to stay awake while Jesus was agonizing over what He was going to face. I don't know though...I would like to think that the adrelin would've been pumpin' through my body and that I would've been able to hang with Jesus and not fall asleep that night. Especially seeing Jesus in the condition He was in. I mean think about it...this was the only time they saw Jesus this upset. He even told them how upset He was when He said, "My soul is very sorrowful, even to death". Not one time, not two times, but three times they dozed off! Then jesus told them, "Watch and pray that you may not enter temptation. The spirit indeed is willing, but the flesh is weak." They understood the part about the spirit being willing, but the flesh weak. They wanted to stay awake. They just couldn't. I feel like that a lot. I want to do what's right(My spirit is willing), But I do the opposite(But my flesh is weak). I think I'll stick to mostly praying in the mornings after I have a cup of coffee.

I do the same thing but it is said that you should pray unceasingly and not let anything come before God. It is also said that prayer should be your key to open up the morning and your lock to lock up the night.

I keep falling asleep during prayer and feeling guilty about it but someone very close told me that I should not feel guilty since we are willing in the spirit and God doesn't mind too much since you are falling asleep in His presence and also that you will be able recieve messages and visions from God easier when you are "unconscious" b/c nothing (the flesh) is stopping you from receiving God's word and what He has to say to you. You should not feel guilty but rather better. The bible says that the last thoughts on your mind and the last words on your lips when you fall asleep should be of prayer, and praising God. :)

It is good to fall asleep in God's presence! Pray without ceasing...good word!
