I stepped on the scale this morning and I weighed in at 210. I lost 20 pounds so far and I have 20 more to go! I want to get to 190 and stay there. I started this adventure on January 8th as I was preparing to speak about God's vision for our physical lives. I blogged about it here. I figured I would "practice what I preached" and began the Mike Silliman Reduced Calorie Diet. Here is what I've been doing...
- Drinking only coffee(black) and water...lots of water. I've had only one Diet Coke since I started.
- Bowl of Oatmeal for Breakfast, sometimes with a Banana.
- A very small lunch. Usually leftovers.
- An apple and some pretzels as a snack.
- A reasonable Dinner. No seconds, no matter how hungry I still am. I eat most everything, just a lot less.
- Wii boxing & tennis for exercise. Sounds silly I know...but it works!
- This time, I'm doing it for the right reasons. I truly want to maximize my health so that I can carry out God's vision for my life. The truth: I can't do all that God wants me to do to my full potential as a fat guy with high cholesterol that gets out of breath walking to the mailbox!
- As a pastor, I can't really communicate effectively and from my heart until I internalize what I am communicating. I can't say I do this 100% effectively every time, but that's the goal each and every week. If I don't internalize, that makes me a politician not a pastor!
- God's strength! I have been asking God, to help me in the area of whole life stewardship.
