Nothing Special...Just a Servant!

I saw this cartoon posted over here today and thought that it captures what we talked about on Sunday. We are so small and seemingly insignificant in our everyday roles. We often wonder if we are making a difference at our jobs, in our ministries, and being the church. Does our role really matter? Do this church really need me? Will that simple act of love and kindness really make a difference to my neighbor? Mother Theresa said it best, "Small things done with great love can change the world!" Don't underestimate your small contribution. It could mean helping someone discover eternal life for someone that desperately needs it!

Bringin' Serving Back...

There is no question that we are a church that serves! What excites me is that there seems to be a movement of churches sweeping the land that have learned the joy of giving yourself away. Check out Action Church led by my friend Don Record. I love what they are doing! They are launching in February and have a real cool story!

Check out this video from Community Christian Church. Put your dancin' shoes on before you watch this video! Move over Justin...

The Street Team is in full force

Today (If the weather holds up) is going to be a serve day at Elk Creek. Today we get to "be the church" outside of the four walls. The students from Gateway will be coming to spend the day to serve us by putting out doorhangers in the community to advertise our launch. We will also be handing out water in the community at an intersection, as well as doing a "business blast", where we take a bag full of goodies to businesses and show some love to the workers that are serving us today. I pray that God would speak to the community today through our love and generosity.
