Defining Your Mission

Now that we have determined our values and who we are going to be. It's time to define our Mission.

Peter Drucker, worldwide leader in business strategies, says that a successful mission statement must have three essential elements:

  • It must fit your past and personality. What types of things has God led you to do in the past? Do you do them well? Did those things bring fruitfulness and fulfillment? Where are your strengths?
  • It must fit present opportunities. Think about where you are right now in life...what can you do to make the biggest difference for God? What doors has he opened in your life to meet the needs of others?
  • It must fit your passion. What keeps you awake at night(in a good way, not the bad pizza)? What are you passionate about?
Developing your mission statement will take some time. Don't force it. Pray about it, seek God for the unique mission that He wants you to accomplish! Keep it in front of you. Share it with a few people that you respect that can keep you on track. This is serious stuff...remember, we want to end up somewhere on purpose!
